Creating data sources

During farm configuration, you must create data sources for your portals. Later you will configure and apply the data sources to a portal using the Portal Manager.

Initially, data sources must be created in this order:

• Back office data sources
• PortalSiteGroup data source
• MSSQL data sources

After configuration of the first portal is complete and you have access to the Portal Manager, you can create data sources using the Portal Manager as well. Typically this is done as needed for additional portals. The steps for creating the data sources are the same whether you use the Farm Manager or the Portal Manager.
