Setting the external interface mapping for portal email
If you plan to use rich-HTML email messages for event notifications, you must set up the external interface mapping for each configured portal. The interface allows an outside application, in this case , to call the AlertUser web service available in the portal. Any call made to this service must be authenticated using either Windows authentication or Open Authentication (OAuth).
For Windows authentication, you must map a Windows account with a back office user account. See Set the external interface mapping for Windows authentication.
For OAuth, a consumer key and secret must be specified for each configured portal and data source, and mapped to a back office user account. The key and secret must also be specified on the back office Portal Parameters form. With Open Authentication, you can rotate keys as needed to meet company security requirements. See Set the external interface mapping for OAuth.
