Investigating unexpected portal errors

The Unexpected Errors page is used to quickly check unexpected portal errors, without needing to access the Portal Manager’s advanced Diagnostic Viewer functionality. These types of errors are displayed on the page:

  • IDO collection load fails
  • Custom load method fails
  • Call to a backend C# class or IDO method fails
  • Saving changes to the back office fails
  1. Sign in to the applicable portal using portal data administrator credentials.
  2. On the portal administration Main page, select Activity > Unexpected Errors.
Note: For portals that use a side menu, you must expand the hamburger menu icon to access administration pages.

When the page is first opened, the current day’s errors are displayed. You can search for errors by ID, user, and description. You can also select to show errors for a specified date and time range. On a mobile device, you must tap the search icon to access filter options.

  3. After viewing errors, you can choose to delete individual records or all records. You are prompted to confirm the delete action, because it cannot be reversed. On a mobile device, you must tap the search icon to access the Delete All option.

Deleting errors removes the records from the Unexpected Errors page, but it does not remove them from the diagnostics log. The errors can still be viewed using the Diagnostic Viewer in Portal Manager. For more information, refer to the portal administration guide section about using portal diagnostics.
