Attach Link/File button

This button is labeled and performs differently depending on the client that you are using. In the web client, you can use the Attach Link button. In the Windows client, you can use the Attach File button. You can attach a file or a link to a new note or an existing note. You can attach only one link or file per note.

You can attach links only in the web client. In the Windows client, you can only attach files. In the Windows client, you can attach files from your local directory or from a shared network folder.

Attach File (Windows client only)

To attach an external file to a record as a note, click this button.

Attached files are not imported into the system. Only the full file path and the file name is stored in the Note Content field.

If a note is a reusable system note and you intend to make an attached file accessible to other users, then we recommend that you put the file in a shared network folder with the appropriate folder and file access permissions, and then attach the file from that folder.

Attach Link (web client only)

To attach a link to a record as a note, click this button. You can attach any valid URL. For example, you can attach http, https, ftp, or even mailto links.
