Master Site

Master sites are application database sites that control some data for all other database sites on an intranet. For example, master sites are used with the Multi-Site Shared Tables feature.

On the Intranets form, specify the master site for an intranet where shared tables will exist. The following must be true in order to add or change a value in this field:

  • You must be logged into the site that you want to specify as the master site.
  • This site must be defined as being within the selected intranet. Live links must be set up (on the Sites or Sites/Entities form) between this site and the other sites in the intranet.
  • No table within the intranet is currently shared.

After you define the master site for an intranet on the master site's Intranets form, the master site displays (but cannot be changed) on the Intranets form for all other sites in that intranet.

On the Intranet Shared Tables or Intranet Shared User Tables form, this field displays the master site (if any) for the selected intranet. If the master site is not the same as your current login site, you cannot update any information on this form.

On the Replication Management form, this field displays the master site (if any) for your current login site's intranet. If the master site is not the same as your current login site, the Regenerate Views to Master Site button is not enabled.
