Performing a Contour Distance Search

Use the Contour Search option to define and search for leads, contacts or accounts near a selected lead, contact or account or address. You can also specify the place. For example, consider you are traveling for a trade show and after reaching the place you are required to schedule sales meetings with other leads, contacts or accounts in the same city.

To perform a contour distance search:

  1. Select Contour Distance Search from the Tools menu on the Contextual menu bar, and click Account, Contact or Lead.
  2. Specify this information to define the search:
    Distance
    The distance, or proximity, from the Starting from location to search. You can click in the field to select the value.
    Results
    The number or records to include in the search results. You can click in the field to select the value.
    Starting from
    The date from which the search result starts displaying. Perform one of these actions:
    • Select a specific place from the list.
    • Select a home or office address if available.

      User home or office address can not be available if geocode information is not available.

    • Use the field below to specify a location, city, state or postal code.

      If you specify a city, state, or postal code, the center point of that location is used.

    Type
    The type based on which the search results are filtered. You can click in the field to select the value.
    Status
    The status based on which the search results are filtered. You can click in the field to select the value.
    Note: This field is applicable only for Contacts and Leads.
    Sub-Type
    You can click in the field to select the value.
  3. Click Search.
  4. Perform one of these steps after the search criteria is defined:
    • You can click Show on Map to open a map with the listed leads, contacts or accounts.
    • You can click Create Filter to create a filter based on the defined search criteria. Specify a name for the group filter, and click Submit.

    A lead, contact or account filter is created and available from the list and details page of the Lead, Contact or Account list and detail views.
