Resolving duplicate Leads found during import

When importing leads, you can look for other leads or contacts that exist in the database. Use this view to manually import or merge the duplicate records.

Note: The application can only search for duplicate records that you have permission to view. A duplicate record that you are not able to access can still exist.

To search for matching records:

  1. Access the Import History detail view, and click the Duplicates tab. See Using the Import History detail view
  2. Click Resolve for the lead to be re-imported or merged.
  3. Select the type of records to be searched, next to Type.
  4. Select the filter check boxes to be applied under Match Filters.
  5. Select one of these options:
    • Match all selected filters - A record is a duplicate, only if it matches all of the selected filters.
    • Match any of the selected filters - A record is a duplicate, only if the record matches all of the selected filters.
  6. Select Advanced Options to perform an advanced search. See Using advanced match options
  7. Click Update Potential Matches.
  8. Merge the lead with a matching contact:
    • Click Merge for the record to be merged with in the Matched Contact/Lead Records grid.
    • Complete the steps for merging records. See Merging duplicate records
    Note: 
    • To manually import the lead you can click Insert Lead.
    • Click Cancel to leave the lead as a duplicate.
    • Once a duplicate is resolved, this record is removed from the Duplicates tab.
