Modifying a Microsoft Word template

You can modify private templates, you can create a private copy of a public template, and save it as a private template.

The Microsoft Word templates can be used when performing a mail merge from Microsoft Word, or when performing a mail merge output to File in the Web Client.

Note: You can Save and Close the editor to allow the merge to continue If you are modifying the template during Mail Merge, when you are finished with your modifications, you must Save and Close the editor to allow the merge to continue.

To modify a template:

  1. Select Templates from the Write menu.
  2. Select a template from the list of Private or Public Templates, and click Edit on the Manage Templates window.
  3. Click Yes to copy the template when the Warning message displays, if you are modifying a public template.
  4. Perform one of these in the Properties window:
    • Set the properties for the template and click OK.
    • Leave the properties as indicated and click Close.

      The editor displays with the template standard text and merge fields visible.

  5. You can specify additional text in the template or use the application toolbar to make changes to the template:
    • Insert application merge fields to the template.
    • Preview the template.
    • Attach files to the template if it is an email type template.
  6. Click Save and Close.
