Using Territory Realignment

Use territory realignment to reassign ownership of accounts.

Note: A territory realignment also updates the owner of these related items: Contacts, Opportunities, Sales Orders, Quotes, Tickets, and Returns.

Rules:

  • Territory realignment realigns all opportunities including closed opportunities.
  • To realign a user accounts, the user must be active.
  • You can realign an inactive or retired user accounts, but you must realign accounts to an active user.
  • Remote user subscription automatically updates based on account reassignment.
  • Before you realign teams, ensure you have created the team to give ownership of the accounts.

To realign a territory:

  1. Access the Accounts list view.
  2. Select the group that contains the required accounts to realign.
    Note: 
    • You can use Lookup to filter the list if required.
    • You can select one or more records by pressing the CTRL or Shift key as you click each item.
    • If you do not select any records, a pop-up is displayed as No records selected. The full group will be processed up to the limit (if any) set by your system administrator. Proceed?. If you click Yes, all of the records in the list are selected.
  3. Click Territory Realignment in the Task Pane, under Common Tasks section. The Territory Realignment window is displayed.
  4. Use Find option to define this data and update the realignment:
    • Owner
    • Account Manager
    • Regional Manager
    • Divisional Manager
  5. Click OK.
    Note: Realigning territories can create a large number of Remote user transactions. You must warn Remote users that synchronization can run longer than usual. Using Estimate Sync to determine the impact of the realignment is strongly recommended.
