Adding or modifying a speedsearch database index Filter & Preview Field

Use the Add Index Filter Field window to add index fields that can be specifically filtered by values in that field when using advanced search expressions in the SpeedSearch search field.

Note: 
  • You can use the Edit Index Filter Field window to modify the index fields.
  • The system administrator and user with appropriate role can access these features. See What are Roles and Secured Actions?
  1. Select Administration > SpeedSearch Manager on the navigation bar. The SpeedSearch Manager list view is displayed.
  2. Click the Database Indexes tab and select a database index from the list.
    Note: The Detail pane displays at the bottom of the list view with tabs containing detail information about the selected record. If the Detail pane is not displayed, click Detail.
  3. Click the Filter & Preview Fields tab in the Detail pane.
  4. Click Add to add a new field. The Add Index Filter Field window is displayed.
    Note: To modify an existing field, select the required field in the list and click Edit. You can only modify Display Name and Format Type fields.
  5. Specify this information:
    Field Name
    The name of the field. Click the Field Name Find icon and use the Select Index Field window to select a field. To view joined table fields, click the Plus icon. Select the field you require to add as a Filter & Preview field. See Selecting a SpeedSearch Database Index Field
    Note: This value cannot be modified once the added field is created and saved.
    Display Name
    The display name of the field.
    Format Type
    The format type of the field. Click the drop down and select a format type. Possible values:
    • None: This is the format for Date or Time fields. Select this option if the field requires no special formatting.
    • Picklist: The pick list ID is resolved to text so that SpeedSearch users view text instead of ID. Select this option if the field is used as a pick list.
    • Owner: The ID is resolved to the username so that SpeedSearch users view text instead of an ID. Select this option if the field is used to store the ID of the person or team who owns the record.
    • User: The ID is resolved to the username so that SpeedSearch users view text instead of ID. Select this option if the field is used to store the ID of the person created the record.
  6. Click OK.
