Performing a Contour Proximity search

Use Contour Search to define and search for contacts or accounts near a selected contact or account or address or specify a place. For example, you are traveling for a trade show and when you are there you require to schedule sales meetings with other contacts or accounts in the same city.

Note: 
  • The security access determines the available functions. Contact the administrator for any access rights changes. WebViewer users cannot access full functionality.
  • You must allow pop-ups before you can view a Contour map.
  1. Select Contour Distance Search and click Account or Contact from the Tools menu.
    Note: You can also access the Account or Contact detail view for the record you require to search near and in the Task Pane, under Common Tasks, click Accounts Nearby or Contacts Nearby.
  2. Specify the search criteria:
    Distance
    Click this field and select the distance, or proximity, from the Starting from location to search.
    Results
    Click this field and select the number or records to include in the search results.
    Starting from
    Click this field and do one of the following:
    • Select Specify Place and use the field below to specify a location, city, state or postal code.

      If you specify a city, state, or postal code, the center point of that location is used.

    • Select a specific place from the list.
    • Select a home or office address if available.

      User home or office address is not available if geocode information is not available.

    Type
    Click the field and select a value from the list to filter the search results by type.
    Status
    (Contact only) - Click the field and select from the list to filter the search results by status.
    Sub-Type
    (Account only) - Click the field and select from the list to filter the search results by sub-type.
  3. Click Search.
  4. click Display Map to view a map with the listed contacts or accounts, once the list is defined. See Viewing contacts or accounts on a Contour map
    Note: You can also click Create Group, specify a name for the group to create a group based on the defined search criteria. A contact or account group is created and available from the Contact list and detail views or Account list and detail views.
