Defining a Delimiter

Use this view to select the appropriate delimiter value for your list and preview records before you import them to the application. A delimiter parses fields in a list. The application analyzes the list to determine which delimiter is currently used, but you can select a different delimiter if required.

To define a delimiter and preview:

  1. Click Next after selecting a file while importing leads.
  2. Click one of these options if you require to change the delimiter:
    • Tab
    • Semicolon
    • Comma
    • Space
    • Other
  3. Specify the delimiter character in the Other field. If you select Other, you must specify the delimiter used to separate fields in the list.
  4. Click the arrow and select a qualifier from the list from the Text Qualifier list. A text qualifier identifies text that must be imported exactly as the same must be displayed.
  5. Select the First Row Contains Field Names check box to display the field names if the list contains field names in the Preview area.
Note:  If there are extended characters in the imported file that do not correctly display in the Preview area, you must save the import file again and explicitly define the encoding type as UTF-8, Unicode, or ANSI. After you save the file again, click Back to return to the Select a File step and reselect the updated file before you continue the import. See Selecting a File to Import
  6. Click Next to perform the next step.
