Creating a new entity

The New Entity Wizard window provides you the ability to create a new business entity and table automatically.

To create a business entity and a new table:

  1. Select Administration > Entity Manager. The Entities list view is displayed.
  2. Right-click Entity Manager and select New Entity. The New Entity Wizard window is displayed.
    Note: You can also access the Entity Manager list view and click New Entity under the Task Pane to create an entity.
  3. Specify this information on the New Entity Wizard window:
    Display Name
    A display name for the entity you create. This value is populated in the Entity Name field.
    Name
    A name for the table. You can specify this value, only if required.
    Note: This field requires valid characters, and prevents you from tabbing out of the field until the invalid characters are removed. The name must start with a capital letter.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Execute these steps on the Primary Relationship page:
    • Clear the Relate to an existing Entity field and click Next if the new entity is not related to an existing entity.
    • Select Relate to an existing Entity field, if the new entity is related to an existing entity.
      1. Select the entity from the Related Entity field.
      2. Select the type of relationship between the two entities from the Relation Type field. Possible values:
        • 1:1 Extension Entity
        • 1:M Child Entity
      3. Click Next.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the new fields for the entity on the Enter Fields page. The default fields are automatically created and cannot be modified.
    1. Click Add.
      The Add Field window is displayed.
    2. Specify the information in the Add Field window.
    3. Repeat steps 6a and 6b to add all fields.
    4. Click Next.
      Note: To remove a field in the grid, select the field, click Delete and click OK to confirm the deletion.
  8. Click Next to create the entities, table(s), and necessary schema for the entity you created.
  9. Click Finish when you are prompted that the entities, tables, and schema are created successfully.
