Using help in another location

To use the help in another location:

  1. Select the Override Hosted Help option.
  2. Specify the URL for the location of the application help files in the Help URL field. The help files must be in a folder named webclient for the Web Client help or customer portal for the Customer Portal help and the URL must have an / at the end of the URL.
Note: If you have multiple office profiles, you can choose whether to use the same or different URLs for each office profile.

    Web Client Examples:

    • If the help is deployed to the SlxClient portal - http://servername:3333/SlxClient/help/
    • If the help is deployed to another application portal - http://servername:3333/portal name/help/
    • If the help is hosted in a separate location - http://domainhost:3333/<path to folder that contains web client folder and help subfolders>/

    Web Client Help URL:

    • When help is clicked, the Help URL is appended with help link information - directory, language, help link http://docs.infor.com/crm/8.3/webclient/en-us/webhelp_CSH#HelpConfiguration
    • This information is passed through to create the help topic URL: https://docs.infor.com/crm/8.3/webclient/en-us/content/manage/officeprofile_help_config_tab.htm

    Customer Portal Examples:

    • If the help is deployed to the SlxCustomerPortal portal - http://servername:3333/SlxCustomerPortal/help/
    • If the help is deployed to another application portal - http://servername:3333/portal name/help/
    • If the help is hosted in a separate location - http://domainhost:3333/<path to folder that contains customerportal folder and help subfolders>/

    Customer Portal Help URL:

    • When help is clicked, the Help URL is appended with help link information - directory, language, help link https://docs.infor.com/crm/8.3/customerportal/en-us/webhelp_CSH#CustTicketListView
    • This information is passed through to create the help topic URL: https://docs.infor.com/crm/8.3/customerportal/en-us/content/customerportal/custticktick.htm?cshid=CustTicketListView
  3. Use the Supported Languages list to indicate the languages for which help exists. By default, en-us is listed. If the implementation includes help for additional languages, after deploying the help to the custom location under the appropriate four character language and culture code, do one of these:
    • Click the Supported Languages menu, select the languages for which help is available.
Note: Selecting a language in the list of Supported Languages when that language does not exist can result in a 404 error when accessing the help.
    • If the Supported Languages list does not include a language, you must modify the Supported Languages pick list. Once the language and culture code has been added to the list, return to the Office Profiles Help tab to select the new language and culture code from the Supported Languages pick list.
  4. Click Save.
    Note:
    • You must press Ctrl + F5 or sign off and sign in to the Web Client client to view your changes.
    • Users already signed in to the Web Client or Customer Portal do not display any changes until they sign in again or press Ctrl + F5.
