Converting legacy Mail Merge word templates

To use Mail Merge in the Web Client or in Microsoft Word by installing the Infor CRM SLX Mail Merge for Microsoft Word add-in, any templates created in a version of Infor CRM SLX prior to version 8.5.0.01 or created in the Infor CRM SLX Windows client or Architect after version 8.5.0.01 must be converted to .docx files. Legacy mail merge Word templates can only be converted in Microsoft Word after installing the Infor CRM SLX Mail Merge for Microsoft Word add-in.

Converting a template creates a new .docx copy of the template plugin. The original mail merge templates remain and continue to be accessible from the Infor CRM SLX Windows Client, Architect, and Administrator.

Note: The system administrator can access this option.

To convert a template:

  1. Select Microsoft Word > Mailings > Manage Templates.
    Note: 
    • Converting a template creates a new .docx copy of the template plugin. The original mail merge templates remained and continue to be accessible from the Infor CRM SLX Windows Client, Architect, and Administrator.
    • If none of the templates have been converted, a window is displayed with:
      There are no mail merge templates available.
      Click OK to close the window.

  2. Click Convert in the Manage Templates toolbar.
    Note: A message window is displayed with the number of legacy (DOC) mail merge templates.
  3. Click Yes in the message window.
  4. Click OK to close the Convert Mail Merge Templates window after the conversion is finished.
    Note: If additional templates are created in the Infor CRM SLX Windows client or Architect, you must convert those templates for them to be available for mail merge in the Web Client or in Microsoft Word.
