Updating multiple fields for multiple records

You can use the Bulk Action Update field to change one or more fields for one or more records at once.

Note: 
  • This feature are not available on all the list views or for all the users.
  • When updating multiple accounts to change the owner, account manager, regional manager, or divisional manager that changes the cascade and update the same value for all related contacts, opportunities, quotes, sales orders, returns, and tickets.

To update one or more records:

  1. Access the list view for the type of records you require to update.
  2. View the Group or Lookup results that contain the records you require to update.
  3. Select one or more records. To select more than one record, hold down [Ctrl] or [Shift], and highlight the records.
    Note: If you do not select any records, you are asked, if all the records in the group can be used. If you click Yes, all the group records are selected. There is no limit to the number of records that can be updated.
  4. Click Update in the Task Pane. See Using the Task Pane
  5. Click the arrow and select the information you require to update in the Bulk Action Update field.
  6. Complete the remaining fields to define the updated value. The remaining fields depend upon the information you are updating.
  7. Click Add Property and repeat steps 5-7 to add another property, until you have selected and defined all of the information you require to update.
  8. Use the cascade options to determine how the changes are cascaded to related contacts and related open opportunities, open quotes and open sales orders when updating a manager such as Account Manager. The available cascade options:
    • Cascade to matching only: If selected, the manager change is cascaded to related records with the previous manager.
    • Cascade to all: If selected, the manager change is cascaded to related records.
    • Do not cascade: If selected, the manager change is not cascaded to any related records.
    Note: This is for accounts only.
  9. Click OK.

    If records are not updated due to security reasons, you are prompted with a message to click the link to view a group of records that cannot be updated.
