Setting or updating the properties for a Word template

You can set or update the properties for a private or public template when creating, editing, or copying a template. If you are editing or copying a template, some property settings are defaulted to the settings for the selected template. However, you can change these settings if required.

Note: This feature is only available in Microsoft Word after installing Infor CRM SLX Mail Merge for Microsoft Word. See Installing Infor CRM SLX Mail Merge For Microsoft Word.

To view template properties, perform one of these actions:

  • Open a template and on the Mailings tab, click Template Properties.
  • On the Mailings tab, click Manage Templates, and select the template from the tree view.
  • On the Mailings tab, click Save as New Template.

To set or update the properties for a template:

  1. Access the template properties. Perform one of these actions:
    • Open a Word template and on the Mailings tab, click Template Properties.
    • On the Mailings tab, click Manage Templates, and select the template from the tree view.
    • On the Mailings tab, click Save as New Template.
  2. Specify this information:
    Name
The name for the new template.
Note: The name must not include an apostrophe (‘), slash (\), or hyphen (-) and must be unique.
    Family
The family for the template used to determine where the template must be added in the template tree view.
    Main Table
Indicate the entity for which the template is created. Possible values:
    • Contact
    • Lead.
    Owner
The owner of the template. You can click the ellipsis to open the Lookup and select an Infor CRM SLX user as the owner for the template.
Note: You cannot use, edit or delete a template if you change the owner.
    Email Subject
In the Email Subject field, type a default subject to be used when the template is output to Email during a mail merge. Only available from Template Properties.

If left blank, the Subject is defaulted to blank. The Subject can be edited when performing a mail merge.

Note: If releasing a private template to another user, you must copy the template first, then release the copied template to the other user. This ensures the private template remains in your list.
  3. Click OK.
