Viewing the Progress of a Mail Merge in Microsoft Word

After starting an Infor CRM SLX mail merge in Microsoft Word and clicking the Merge button, the Mail Merge in Progress window is displayed and progress of the mail merge as the tasks are processed.

If a merge encounters any errors or a task fails, a message is displayed. The most common errors or messages are:

Could not retrieve contact or lead email address
An email address could not be found for the indicated contact or lead, so an email message is not be created. Please update the contact or lead with a valid email address and perform the mail merge for the updated record.
Could not retrieve parameter
The template contains an invalid or unrecognized parameter. Please review your template SQL fields, such as tables, SQL values, or images or contact your administrator.
There are no email addresses for the indicated contacts or leads.
Please update the records with a valid email address and perform the mail merge for the updated records.Please update the records with a valid email address and perform the mail merge for the updated records.
There are no available records for mail merge. No documents created.
The mail merge cannot continue because there are no records available to merge. This occurs if the selected group or record does not contain any valid contacts or leads, or if all selected contacts or leads are designated as Do Not Solicit and the Enforce Do Not Solicit option was selected.
Plugin named "x" cannot be found
The template you selected is no longer available to you. It can been deleted or your access to the template is removed. Please verify if the selected template is still available from Manage Templates.
COM error code: 0x86204005 Call stack: at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._Inspector.get_WordEditor()
The mail merge output to Email cannot continue because Microsoft Outlook cannot be opened. This error occurs if Microsoft Outlook is not installed, is not configured, or cannot be opened.

Once the merge completes, you can do any of the following:

  • Click OK to close the Mail Merge in Progress window
    • If performing a mail merge to Email
      • If the Review individual emails prior to sending option is selected, each email message is opened for review prior to clicking the Send or Send to CRM button.
        Note: 

        If an email message is edited prior to sending, the attached file does not contain the updated text if either the Attach merged document to each record or Create history record to each contact or lead options are selected. If Infor

        Xbar for Outlook is also installed and configured, Infor CRM SLX recommends using the Send to CRM button to record the updated email to history.

      • If the Review individual emails prior to sending option is cleared, each email message is sent automatically.
    • If performing a mail merge to Printer, the documents starts printing as soon as the Mail Merge window closes.
    • If performing a mail merge to File, Windows Explorer opens with the merged document or zip file containing the merged documents selected.
  • Click Cancel or the Close button to perform another mail merge using the same options.
    • If performing a mail merge to Email
      • If the Review individual emails prior to sending option is selected, each email message is opened for review prior to clicking the Send or Send to CRM button.
        Note: If an email message is edited prior to sending, the attached file does not contain the updated text if either the Attach merged document to each record or Create history record to each contact or lead options are selected. If Infor Xbar for Outlook is also installed and configured, Infor CRM SLX recommends using the Send to CRM button to record the updated email to history.
      • If the Review individual emails prior to sending option is cleared, each email message is sent automatically.
    • If performing a mail merge to File, Windows Explorer does not open automatically. You need to navigate to the Directory location to find the merged document or zip file containing the merged documents selected.
    • If the documents were set to print, the Printing will start when "Mail Merge" dialog is closed. message displays. The documents can not be printed until all subsequent mail merges are complete and Mail Merge window is closed.
      Note: : If you do not wait until the merge completes before canceling or closing the window, the mail merge can not complete any remaining mail merge actions.
