Working with agreements
Default discount amounts and price-by terms are defined in your business terms with dealers and in their terms with customers. Dealers can initiate an agreement with you for special circumstances, to request a change to these terms. For example, if a dealer is getting an especially large order from a customer, the dealer may request a larger manufacturer discount for a particular item.
Dealer representatives create new agreement records using the Agreements form in their CPQ Enterprise Quoting system. As soon as they submit the request, the record is set to read-only in their system and is displayed on the Agreements form in your system.
At the same time, a task notification is sent to pricing approvers in your system, to inform them that a request is pending. See Using task notifications for change requests. A pricing approver must approve or reject the request.
This table describes agreement statuses:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Draft | A dealer rep has created an agreement but has not yet submitted it for approval. Dealer reps can make changes to an agreement with Draft status. Direct reps cannot make changes or add comments to the agreement. |
In Review | The agreement has been submitted for review. Dealer reps cannot make changes to an agreement with this status, but they can add comments. Direct reps who are pricing approvers can make changes and add comments. |
Approved | The agreement has been approved. Dealer and direct reps can only add comments. |
Rejected | The agreement has been rejected. Dealer reps can add comments and/or return the agreement to Draft status. Direct reps can only add comments. |
Expired | The agreement expiration date has been reached. The terms of the agreement no longer apply for the specified customer and item(s). No changes or comments can be made. |
In summary, a direct representative who is not a pricing approver can only view agreements and add comments in some statuses. If you are a pricing approver, you can make changes to, approve, or reject agreements that are in review, and add comments in specified statuses. You cannot make any changes to or delete agreements with a status of Draft, Approved, Rejected, or Expired.
