Creating a new order

This is the general process for creating a new order. For information about creating the order on behalf of a selected dealer, refer to the About on-behalf-of mode.

This procedure can be completed by any user who has the Can Order Directly privilege.

  1. In CPQ Enterprise Quoting, select Orders.
  2. Click New Order.
  3. Click Select Customer.
  4. Find and select the customer who will receive the order.
  5. Optionally, click Create Customer to create a new customer to receive the quote.
    1. Specify this information:
      Name
      Specify the customer name.
      Pricelist
      Specify the pricelist to use for the customer.

    2. Click Back to Order.
  6. In the Order page, click Add Items.
  7. Search the Product Catalog or navigate through the item list to select the items that are required for the order.

    If you select a configurable item, you can then click Configure to open the CPQ Enterprise Configurator and choose from provided options.

  8. To review or work with individual line items on the order, click the blue line item link in the upper right corner of the form.
  9. To complete line items, use these fields:
    Line
    To indicate the sequence in which each line item should display on the order, specify an integer in the Line field.
    Item
    To display and review the details of the line item, click an item expansion icon (+). You can specify a custom label for the item and a requested ship date, and both will be displayed on the order. Expanding a configured line item displays a nested list of the selected configuration details and options.
    Quantity
    To adjust the required quantity of the line item, specify a value in the Quantity field.
  10. Additional functions can be used by clicking the actions icon (…) at the end of a line.

  11. In the Order Summary panel, you can edit the order header and pricing details as needed.

  12. Click the Cart icon to the return to the order.
    If the Product Catalog feature is not enabled, products are displayed in an item list. To return to the quote, click on the order number link.
  13. When the order is complete, click Place Order.
  14. Review and confirm the details on the Place Order form.
  15. Click Submit to Manufacturer.
  16. Review the informational message to confirm that the order status is set to submitted.
  17. Click Close.
