Assigning a territory to a customer

Customers can be assigned to a single territory by a dealer representative in CPQ Enterprise Quoting Runtime on the customer search grid in the Territory column, enabling representatives that have access to the territory and customer to modify the customer record.

The Territory field is required and must be set when creating a new customer or editing a customer. Territories that are displayed in the drop-down list depend on whether the base territory has child territories and if those child territories are associated to the logged in representative. For example, if the representative is assigned to Philippines and Japan Territories, they should see Philippines, Japan and their child territories in Territory. If they are assigned to Japan only, they should not see Philippines and its child territories. If a base territory has no child territories and the logged in representative is assigned to a base territory, only the Base Territory is displayed. If the logged in representative is assigned to a base territory, then they should see the base territory and its child territories in Territory.

Customers can be filtered based on their assigned territory in the customer search grid. A representatives can only see customers that are associated to territories that the representative has access to. For example, if the representative has access to Tokyo only and other customers are associated to other territories, then they cannot see those customers in the customer search grid. However, if the representative is assigned to Philippines and Japan, they should see all of the customers assigned to those territories. If the representative has full access to all territories, they can see all of the customers created under their dealership. If the customer is assigned to a base territory, then this can be viewed by any representative who is also assigned to a base territory. However, if the representative's access is removed to at least one child territory under a base territory, then they cannot see the customer assigned to a base territory.
