Saving changes to an existing named configuration

An existing named configuration can be altered when you add it to a quote or an order. When you make changes, you must choose whether to save them by creating a new named configuration record or by overriding the existing record. If you create a new record, you can make it available to only yourself or to all users. If you override the existing record, changes will apply to the user access that was selected on the original record.

Create a new named configuration from the existing one

  1. Open or create a quote or an order.
  2. Click Add Items.
  3. Find the existing named configuration to add and click Add Item.
  4. In the upper right corner of the form, click the blue link to go to the line items on your quote or order.
  5. For the item that you just added, select Change Options in the line actions menu.
  6. In the dialog window that opens, specify this information:
    Do you want to create new named configuration?
    Click Yes.
    Access Type
    Specify whether to make the new configuration available to only yourself (Current User) or to all users of your CPQ Enterprise Quoting system.
    Name
    Specify a descriptive name for the new configuration.
  7. Click OK. This opens the item in the CPQ Enterprise Configurator.
  8. Make the necessary changes to the configuration and then click Finish.

    The configuration is updated on your quote or order, and this new configuration record is added to the product list/catalog and to the Named Configurations form.

Override the existing named configuration

  1. Open or create a quote or an order.
  2. Click Add Items.
  3. Find the existing named configuration to add and click Add Item.
  4. In the upper right corner of the form, click the blue link to go to the line items on your quote or order.
  5. For the item that you just added, select Change Options in the line actions menu.
  6. In the dialog window that opens, click No.
  7. Click OK. This opens the item in the CPQ Enterprise Configurator.
  8. Make the necessary changes to the configuration and then click Finish.

    The configuration is updated on your quote or order and saved to the original named configuration record. If this configuration had originally been saved for All Users, then the changes will apply to everyone when they choose this configuration for future orders.
