New Action Assignment
The New Action Assignment page enables you to apply actions.
These are the toolbar buttons for the page:
Field | Description |

Preview Positions | Displays the positions to which the action will apply. |
Apply Action | If you previewed the list of positions,
clicking
Apply Action applies
the action to every selected position in the preview list.
If you did not preview the list, clicking Apply Action applies the action to every position based on the filter. If no filter is applied, then the action is applied to all positions you have access to in the selected version. Applying the action calculates Workforce Budgeting data and writebacks to the financial tables. |
Clear | Clear all selections, including filters, to start over defining a generated action. |
Save Filter | Save the filter. |
Save Filter As | Open the Save Filter As dialog box. Specify a name for the filter. Optionally, you can overwrite an existing filter. |
Selections
The Selections section lets you specify the basic selection criteria.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Version | List of allowed writeable members. The list is filtered by version members that have the entire budget period range open for editing based on the focus range. If the open periods of the focus range for a version do not include all the periods included in the budget range, that member is not available for selection. |
Action | List of defined actions allowed for the current user. |

Specify an amount for the selected action. If the action has default values, that value is displayed. If the action is defined to restrict budgeters from editing the value, the value is displayed, but editing is disabled. If the action is defined with ranges, no value is displayed since it varies based on position. |
Set Action Allocation | Open the Allocation page where you can allocate the action across different dimension member combinations. This field is available when creating an action that can be allocated. |
Action Date Range | Limit the search to only those with an
action date within a specified range or based on a date attribute such as hire
date. Choose from
Select Start to enable the Start and End boxes. Specify the start date for the action. The end date is optional. Select Based on and a list of events displays. if the budgeter bases an action on anniversary date, the action is created with a start date equal to the anniversary date of the fiscal year. For example, an employee has an anniversary date of 5/14/2002. Applying an action for fiscal year 2013 with a date type of anniversary, results in an action with a date of 5/14/2013. |
Spread Method | Select the spread method. If the list is left blank, the spread method assigned by the position assignment is used. |
Filter
The Filter section lets you restrict the results of an action. For example you can apply an action only to hourly workers.
Field | Description |

Available Filters | List of previously saved filters. Select New Filter to create a filter. Filters let you restrict the actions to specific employees or positions. |
Companies | List of primary dimension members. Select the dimension members to include in the filter. |
Position Name | List of position names. Select the positions to include in the filter. |

Position Filters
The Position Filters section enables you to define a filter based on position attributes.

Start Date | Select the date range. |
Step and Grade | Select the schedule, steps, and grades. This field is available if Step and Grade has been enabled. |
System Position Type | Select the position type. Choose from:
Authorized Assigned Select Authorized to restrict the position type to authorized position assignments. Select Assigned to restrict the position type to assigned position assignments. This field is available if vacancy has been enabled. |
Salary Range | Specify the salary range. |
Employee Filters
The Employee Filters section lets you define a filter based on employee.
Field | Description |

Employee ID | Select the employee ID. |
Hire Date | Select a date range for the hire date. |
Anniversary Date | Select a date range for the anniversary date. |
Primary Location | Select the primary location. |
Preview Positions
The Preview Positions section displays the positions to which the action will apply. When this section is first populated, the first 1,000 rows are displayed. The remaining rows are displayed as you scroll. The action is applied to all positions, not just the ones currently displayed.
