Running the Consolidation pages
These are the basic instructions for selecting members for most consolidation pages. Subsequent sections provide additional instructions. Keep these points in mind:
- You cannot run a consolidation if you have read-only security for the selected members.
- Before running a consolidation, use the Approval process to make sure all data has been submitted.
- Run a local consolidation first, and then check the data for any existing cross-checks by using a custom process.
- A consolidation only posts a journal whose effective life is defined by the leaf periods of the journal's periodicity. A consolidation will not post a journal with an invalid effective life definition but will write a message to the log file for each invalid journal.
- Open the appropriate consolidation page.
- From the Start and End lists, define a date range by selecting the starting and ending periods/years. The period range selection should be defined in terms of the leaf member periods (or higher) of the periodicity of the schedules being consolidated. For example, you can select January, Quarter 1, or Total Year for a monthly schedule. You cannot select January for a quarterly schedule; it requires a quarterly, or higher, member.
- Click Schedule Line Items to select one or more schedules.
-
To define your data slice, click an underlined dimension, and
select the members for the consolidation.
- Click Organization Unit and select one or more reporting or consolidation units. If you select a consolidation unit, you do not need to select its descendants.
- Click Version and select one or more versions.
- For Product and Sales Channel, select one or more custom dimension members. If you select a parent member in a hierarchical dimension, you do not need to select its descendants.
- For Currency, select one or more currencies. For currency consolidations, local currency is automatically consolidated unless you select Skip Local Consolidations as a consolidation option. If you want to post journals to local currency only without translating, you can specifically select the Local currency on the Consolidation form to run a local consolidation that will post journals (it will not roll data up the Unit dimension hierarchy).
- For Exchange Rate Set, select one or more rate sets containing the appropriate currency exchange factors. If you selected Local for Currency, you must select Untranslated.
- Select the YTD check box if you want to calculate data in year-to-date format in addition to periodic. For the Consolidation Status Monitor page, click Options and select the Compute YTD check box.
- Click .
