Application dimensions
Dimensions represent core components, such as units, periods, products, and schedules. Dimensions are static in most databases: once set up, they rarely change. The types and names of the dimensions you use depend on your application data source and your administrator.
The Accumulation Method dimension allows users to select periodic (e.g., monthly), period-to-date (e.g., quarterly). or year-to-date views for financial data. Reported profit and loss data is stored as periodic values. The consolidation process calculates and stores year-to-date values. Period-to-date data is calculated on the fly from periodic data stored in the database.
The Adjusted State dimension enables Financial Consolidation users to select data as it relates to journal adjustments. The members include Reported (not adjusted), Adjustments, and Net Adjusted.
The Category dimension is an optional custom dimension associated with one or more schedules to allow users to categorize account information (such as tracking data by product line). For all other processes, the Category dimension behaves as an Other dimension (i.e., it applies to all schedules).
The Currency dimension enables users to select currencies. This dimension works with the Rate and RateSet dimensions to handle financial data translation.
The Organization Unit dimension enables users to select members from the organizational structure.
The Other dimension is an optional custom dimension that applies to all schedules.
The Period dimension enables users to select any period within a year.
The Rate dimension contains rate definitions associated with each schedule line. The members include Historical Rate, Period End Rate, Average Rate, and NA (not applicable).
The RateSet dimension enables users to select a group of exchange rate values for translation purposes. The members include Untranslated, Actual Rate, Budget Rate, Best Case Scenario, and Worst Case Scenario.
The Schedule dimension enables users to select accounts and/or schedules (groups of accounts).
The Version dimension enables users to select a variation of data (such as Actual, Budget Pass 1, or Target).
The Year dimension enables users to select a year.
