Top down spreading
Top down spreading is intended for use in producing budgets or forecasts. Top down spreading is a method used to proportionally change leaf data based on a value submitted to a consolidation member of any hierarchical dimension. The value is pro-rated among leaf members based on the ratio of existing leaf data.
The Approval process does not work in conjunction with views set up with the top down spread capability.
Best practice
Top down spread to a version designated for top down spreading. This practice safeguards your data before you change it and keeps it separate from data used by the Approval process.
