Consolidation status
A consolidation request usually causes multiple consolidations to occur. In simple cases, there are two consolidations: one in local currency and one in the target currency. You can also request multiple members for any dimension, all of which increase the number of separate consolidations. The status window displays the consolidation status using two meters: one for the current consolidation, and one for the entire consolidation request.
Each consolidation is divided into three phases:
- Setup
- Reading leaf members
- Processing non-leaf members
The consolidation cannot compute the duration of a setup phase, so it only reports that it is in that phase. During the reading and processing phases the consolidation knows the number of data sheets to be handled, so it can report progress during these phases.
In each status message, the consolidation reports this information:
- Current consolidation and total number of consolidations.
- The current phase of the consolidation: setup, reading, or processing.
- The percent done, the number of sheets completed, and the total number of sheets (reading and processing phases only).
The length of the process phase relative to the reading phase can vary, and the length of individual consolidations can vary. Therefore, the overall percent completed based on the current consolidation number and phase is approximate. Conditions such as the sparseness of the data also affect the speed of the meter.
