When to start a new year
Before you start a new year, you should consider other activities that are taking place in the application. Start New Year moves large amounts of data across the network if your database server and CPM Server are on different computers. Therefore, for performance reasons, you should be aware of other activity in the application and monitor the system resources to ensure optimal performance.
There are also data integrity considerations with running Start New Year while other processes are active. For example, since the process copies data from the last period of one year to the beginning period (P0) of the next year, users should not make changes or run consolidations that affect the ending period data while the Start New Year process is running. Similarly, two administrators would not want to run Start New Year concurrently for overlapping or dependent slices of data.
You can run Start New Year again if prior year data has been changed to update current year P0 values.
