Measures Source

The Measures Source tab enables you to establish the data source for a selected unit and plan object. A measure for a plan object can only be established at leaf nodes in the unit dimension, unless the Unit Consolidation Method for the selected Unit member is set to None using the Edit Measures tab.

The data source options are:

  • None
  • Manual
  • SQL
  • CPM

Check that the period columns that were automatically generated reflect the periods that you want. The Start and Number of Periods properties for the object determine the intervals shown. You must readjust the Start and Number of Periods property for the plan object if the intervals are not appropriate. This should be done before setting up the measure.

The SQL and CPM data source connections are defined within Plan Administration of Application Wizard. There, data source connections can be added, modified, and deleted.

If None is selected from the Source list, no source is established. If you change the Number of Periods property to zero for a plan object, you must set that object's source to None.

Manual

When you select Manual, the row that was selected on the Edit Measures Source page displays on the tab. Specify the values in the columns provided and click Save.

SQL

You can specify that the values are to come from a SQL database query.

View Name List of views in the SQL database.
Save Save any changes.
Select Intervals by Select whether the interval values are from rows or columns.
Key Columns Select the columns that uniquely identify the rows in the source table shown on the tab. Typically, this is an ID column that was defined on the source view. You can select multiple columns if there is a more unique way of identifying rows or if an ID column does not exist.
Data Columns Select the columns from which the data values are retrieved.
Source Table Select the data to use as the values. You can select cells anywhere on the table as long as the total number of cells matches the required number of values.

Connection Selections List of defined CPM data sources.
View Name List of views defined in the Views database.
