Adding non-standard file types

Using Strategy Management, you can save and view files with standard extensions in the application. Strategy Management uses Internet Information Services (IIS) to allow or disallow non-standard file types. For example, a .pdf file is viewable by default, but a .sql file is blocked. When an extension is blocked, an error is displayed.

To add a non-standard file type:

  1. On the CPM Server computer, select Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager .
  2. Click the server name to expand it.
  3. Select the CPM application.
  4. Under the IIS header, there is an MIME Types icon . Double-click the MIME Types icon.
  5. On the right-hand side, click Add.
  6. Specify this information:
    Option Description
    Extension The file type extension.
MIME type The type of file this extension refers to.
You must identify the proper MIME type for the file extension. Refer to http://hul.harvard.edu/ois/systems/wax/wax_public_help/mimetypes.htm for further information.
  7. Click OK.
