Object types

The first step for a new plan is to establish its object types. The object types depend on the planning methodology and process. A traditional plan would have Objectives, Strategies, Tactics and Assumptions. Although each plan can have different object types, a company will use consistent methodology and object types. Default object types are associated with a plan when an administrator creates a plan using the Application Wizard. A planner can then add and delete types as needed.

Select Menu Options > Edit Object Types to open the tab.

These are the options:

Option Description
Add new Open the Add Type dialog box. Specify a name for the object. From the Based On list, select the object type to use as the basis for the new type's settings. This copies the characteristics from an existing object type to the new object type.
Delete Delete the selected item. An administrator or planner can delete an object type, even ones that someone else created. Only object types that are not associated with any plan objects can be deleted. Other users can only delete the plan objects they created (where the plan object's Author property must match the name used to sign on to Strategy Management).
Save Save the changes.
Cancel Close the tab. You are prompted if there are unsaved changes.

You can create your own icons instead and place them in that directory. The icons must be in GIF format and 20x20 pixels in size. You cannot have a transparent background for the icon; you must set a color for it.
