Adding comments

Replies to comments are allowed one level deep. That means that you cannot reply to a comment that is already in response to another but you can reply to the original comment. Attachments are allowed on replies.

Before you add a comment, make sure the filtering in the List Dimension Filters section is correct as to where you want the comment stored.

To add a comment:

  1. Click the plan object you want to comment on.
  2. Select Menu Options > Show Discussions.
  3. Click View Discussions. This opens the Discussions panel.
  4. Click Add new.
  5. In the box, specify a comment. Check any additional members you want the comment to be associated with.
  6. Optionally, click the Attachment button. This opens a dialog box where you can browse to the file you want to attach. Attachments can help clarify the purpose of the object or as a link to more detailed information. Attachments are stored in the ProgramData\Infor\CPM\StrategyManagement\StrategyAttachments directory on the CPM Server computer.
  7. Optionally, click the Insert Link button.
    1. Specify the URL. The URL is displayed as a hyperlink in the posted Discussion with the specified title. If no title was specified, the full URL displays.
    2. Optionally, specify a title.
    3. Click Insert Link.
  8. Optionally, click the Important check box. Marking a comment as important adds an exclamation mark (!) to the comment.
  9. In the Select Members for Comment Location section, specify where to place the comment in the slice. Like the List Dimension Filters, this list contains members representing the currently selected row member and off-grid members. The primary dimension's selected member is always enabled. Enabling other check boxes restricts the comment to the selected members.
  10. Click Submit.

A blank comment can be added if it contains attachments.

After a comment is added, it can be edited for 15 minutes. In edit mode, attachments can be added or deleted. The creation date is updated to the current time if a discussion is edited.

When editing a comment, if a comment is updated to have no text and no attachments, it is considered an empty comment and is deleted.

You can delete your original comments at any time. Deleting a comment also deletes all its attachments from the server. The physical file is removed from the server. Deleting a comment also deletes any replies associated with that comment and any attachments associated with those replies.
