Adding objects to the plan

After you have established the object types for the plan, you can add plan objects. You can build the plan with the Overview display or the hierarchical Outline.

To add an object to the plan:

  1. In the Update category, select the Modify Overview or Modify Outline page.
  2. Select Menu Options > Show Plan Object Types.
  3. In the Plan Object Types panel, select an object type. Drag it onto the plan and drop it over the intended parent object. The Add Plan Object tab opens.
  4. Specify the name of the object.
    The right bracket (]) character is not allowed in plan object names and property fields.
    We recommend that the name for each plan object be unique within the whole plan. Within one unit all of its plan object names must be unique. To have two units include the same object, see "Associating objects to units". If you do not set up this association, when you add a plan object to one unit with the same name as an object associated with another unit, they are different plan objects. To avoid confusion, you should at least have some property, such as a description, be different so you can identify them in reports. Because they are different objects, their performance values are calculated and rolled up separately.
  5. Click Save.
