Update Values
The
tab lets a planner or administrator get the latest target and actual values. This menu option is not available if you do not have security rights to update the plan.Select
to open the tab.These are the options:
Option | Description |

Values to Update | Updates the actual values or target values when these values change in the associated data sources. For example, when the actuals for a quarter are updated within CPM or a SQL database, an administrator needs to do an update of actuals. This reloads the data and recalculates the plan based on the new actuals. |

Limit the scope of the update by selecting
the portion of the plan to update. Click
Select the Include descendants check box to include all descendants of the object. |

select the members to update. The initial values are based on settings from the
report you are viewing.
Unload views before updating | Select this check box to ensure the latest values are obtained from the views. This clears any buffering that has been done and obtains a fresh copy of the data. During plan development you may want to leave the box unchecked when you are doing several smaller updates and you are certain the views have not changed. |
Save this specification | Saves the settings. This is useful if you plan on updating a certain set of values on a regular basis. Select this check box, then in the Specification Name box, specify a name for the specification. You can specify up to 255 characters. These names are reserved and should not be used: _proto_ and constructor. |
Save & Update | Saves the settings to the named specification file, updates the values and reloads the plan. |
Specifications | Opens the Specifications dialog box where you can select a previously saved specification. |
Update | Updates the values and reloads the plan. |
Cancel | Close the tab. You are prompted if there are unsaved changes. |
To update the whole plan, select update of both actual and target values, the top unit, the top plan object and select the Include Descendants check box for both.
