Production Reporting for Crystal Reports process

A report consists of a Crystal Reports template and a View Manager view. The template specifies the look of the report. The view specifies the dimensions and members for the report. The process of defining a report is selecting the appropriate template and view for the report and giving it a unique name. The administrator can also preview a report. This lets the administrator review the report immediately, without the need to schedule or distribute it.

Reports are grouped into books. If several reports must be distributed at the same time, grouping them into a book simplifies distribution.

Jobs are scheduled to run reports for distribution. A job consists of reports or books sent to a specific group of recipients at the same time. A job uses one delivery method and one publishing format for all recipients. Jobs can recur at defined intervals. When a job is run, the system creates reports using the data stored in the database at run time.

Reports can be delivered via email or saved to the network. Additionally, you can send the reports in Crystal Reports format directly to the default printer of the machine where the job is created.
