Setting workbook properties

Using Workbook Properties you can control the settings for the workbook that apply to all worksheets in the workbook.

To set workbook properties:

  1. Select the Workbook Properties command.
  2. In the View Keep Alive Interval (minutes) box, enter the number of minutes that Excel Services should wait between user activity before sending a notice to the web server that the views on the worksheet are still in use. The default is set to 5 minutes.
  3. Select Refresh views on workbook open if you want views in the workbook to be automatically refreshed when a user opens the workbook. We recommend not automatically refreshing workbooks when opened if there are more than 3 - 5 views in the workbook. This improves performance when the view is opened. Make sure you tell your users that they must manually refresh each sheet.
  4. Select Refresh view on rotate and member selection if you want views in the workbook to be refreshed when the user rotates a view.
  5. (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Only) Select Allow Local Consolidation if local consolidation should be run from the menu.
  6. (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle) Select Allow Local Consolidation if a local consolidation should run automatically when a user submits data.
  7. (Budgeting Only) Select Allow Detail Budgeting if Detail Budgeting employee and assets review and data entry should be available from the workbook.
  8. (Budgeting Only) In the Detail Budgeting URL box, specify the URL for Detail Budgeting.
  9. Click OK when finished. To ensure a secure environment, workbook properties and sensitive data stored in the workbook are encrypted.
