View-based add-in fails to load

There are three reasons why the Comshare XL add-in can fail to load.

Office Safe Mode

Excel Only

If your view-based add-in fails to load or your Design Mode commands do not appear in a Microsoft Excel environment, ensure that any items needed by Excel Services (such as the Comshare XL add-in or Microsoft .xml files) are not disabled by Office Safe Mode. Select the File tab > Excel Options > Add-ins. In the Manage drop-down list, select Disabled Application Add-ins and click Go. Select the disabled add-in and click Enable.

Upgrading Excel

After upgrading Excel, users must reinstall the view-based component.

Uninstall/Reinstall to Different Directory

If you uninstall the Excel Services view-based component, the Comshare XL add-in is removed from the current directory, but it is not unloaded from Excel. Therefore, if you reinstall the component to a different directory, the Excel add-in will still point to the obsolete directory and cannot load.

To resolve, select the Comshare XL option in Tools > Add-Ins. Excel will not be able to find the add-in from the old directory and will ask if you want to delete it from the list. Select Yes. Then click Browse, find the ComshareXL.xla file from the current directory, and click OK.
