Working offline
Excel Services lets you specify and review data offline. You cannot make changes such as selecting a different member, pivoting the view, adding rows or columns, etc. These items are disabled.
If you are responsible for more than one set of data (for example, different units or categories), you need to save each set of data as a separate workbook before you work offline. For example, if you use one workbook to handle data entry by unit and you are responsible for two different units, you should save the workbook, change the unit (see the "Changing View Parameters" section), and save and rename the workbook for the second set of data.
- Open the workbook while still connected to the server.
- Select to save the workbook. You need to do this for each set of data you are editing.
- You can disconnect from the server while the saved workbook is still open to work offline. Or you can close the workbook and open it later without connecting to the server or signing in.
- Make your modifications. Save the workbook if any changes are made.
- You can reconnect to the server while the workbook is still open and to save the data to the database. Or, you can close the workbook and reopen it later and sign in to work online.
