Saving data locally

Saving data locally allows you to save your work without submitting it to the database and without running a local consolidation. Saving data locally is useful when you want to prevent others from viewing the data or when you need to work offline.

If you are responsible for more than one set of data, such as different units or custom categories, you need to save each set of data as a separate workbook. This is especially important prior to working offline, since you may not have access to your database.

If you have rotated any of your views while working, the settings for those rotations are stored in a private view. If you restore the saved workbook on the same computer, you will see the same view rotation. If you restore the workbook on another computer, the default rotations are used, and you will not see the data you were working on.

The Save Data command on the CPM Views toolbar or menu does not save data locally.

To save data locally:

  1. With the workbook open, select File > Save As.
  2. Give the saved workbook a name and click OK. You return to Excel with the saved workbook open.
