Drill mode

When selecting a drill mode for a view definition in View Manager, consider the intended use of the view. For example, if the view is intended for data entry, the members displayed on the view are leaf members, and the drill mode should be set to Member Select. If the mode is set to drill, users will not be able to change the members, since the only ones available are leaf nodes.

The drill mode for every application has a default value, which is configurable. Review this setting for each view definition in View Manager before distributing your workbooks. The drill mode in View Manager is the mode that is loaded every time the workbook is loaded. The drill mode setting in Excel Services is only available outside of design mode and is only set for the current user. If you set the drill mode for a view in your workbook using the CPM Views menu, saving the workbook, and then distributing the workbook, users will not see the drill mode setting when they open the workbook. The view reverts to the view definition settings.
