Defining user preferences

Before you can sign in, connect to the server, or enter design mode to perform any administrative task, you must first open Excel and define the CPM service via the User Preferences command.

If the CPM Views menu does not show on the main toolbar, go to Add-Ins and check the Comshare XL add-in option.

Specify the correct URL for the CPM service in the User Preferences dialog box.

If you want Excel Services to prompt users to save the workbook when disconnecting from the server, check the option at the bottom of the dialog box. Click OK to save your settings. If you do not check the prompt option, you may still be prompted to save your workbook before disconnecting from the server (this ensures changed data is saved to the database).

In general, changes made to user preferences take effect after you reconnect to the server.
