Submitting data
CPM Only
Your administrator can set up the Submit Data command to run a local consolidation. This rolls up data in hierarchical dimensions and calculates database formulas and total lines in local currency for the current schedule and unit. It does not translate data or roll up data for multiple units. Check your corporate manual to see whether your application automatically runs local consolidations when submitting data or if you need to run a local consolidation separately.
If a local consolidation is run during data submission and the consolidation is still running after the view refreshes with the newly submitted data, the view is not refreshed again after the local consolidation completes. To view the results of the consolidation in this case, click Refresh Worksheet Data.
You can use the Refresh Worksheet Data command at any time to update your data entry view to display the contents of the database.
Keep these points in mind:
- If no changes were made since data was last saved to the database, a local consolidation runs but the database is not updated.
- (CPM Only, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Only) If a data entry view has one or more periods outside the focus range, but none of these periods are writeback-enabled in the view, then submitting data works normally. A focus range warning displays after a local consolidation, but you can ignore this message, since it only applies to the periods that are not writeback-enabled.
- You cannot undo a command. This is where the flexibility of saving data to local workbooks is helpful. Remember that once you submit or save data, anyone with access to your units can view your data.
