Defining a mapping
- Click the Mapping tab.
- Select a schedule from the Select Schedule list.
- Select a line you want to map from the Select Line list. Lines that have existing mappings have a check mark placed in front of them. Any line mappings apply to all schedules that include the line.
- In the Map to View list, select the Detail Budgeting view to map to the line. A schedule line can only be mapped to one Detail Budgeting view but you can map a view to more than one schedule line. For example, you can map the Salary view to one schedule line when filtered by an employee type but map to another line when filtered by another employee type.
- In the Dimension Defaults group, select the members of the displayed dimensions where Detail Budgeting data will be mapped. Members of these dimensions must be selected so that the data is written to the appropriate portion of the main database. The Period, Year, and Version dimension settings for the mapping are taken from the Global tab. The Category/Other dimensions are displayed depending how the application is otherwise set up. For example, if you select Unit as the main dimension and no secondary dimension and the database has Unit/Sales Channel and Products dimensions, the Products and Sales Channel dimensions appear on the Mappings tab. If you now select a secondary dimension, then the Mapping tab shows only the remaining dimensions.
- To map data for one or more specific employee types or all employee types, select the desired types from the Employee Type list. The filter type depends on the view selected from the Map to View list. Employee views allow filtering by employee type; Asset views, by asset type. You can specify more than one value for the filter. For example, you could include Contractor and Part Time employee types in one filter. This is optional.

Once you map a
schedule line to a Detail Budgeting view, lock this line from data entry in any
related data entry views.
