Calculating views

Any time you make a change that affects Detail Budgeting views, you should calculate the views. For example, when you import data or change the mapping, you should calculate the views. The Calculate Views command on the Tools menu calculates these views for you and then summarizes the data in the financial database based on existing mappings. It does not record submission status information.

If a calculation fails, you are notified and given the option to continue calculating or fix the problem. If calculation fails after an import, the failed members are included in the error report that follows the process.

Warnings

  • (Oracle Only) If you calculate views without first saving certain changes in Detail Budgeting Administrator, some tables may not take the changes into account during the calculation. This can happen when you are not the database schema owner and you change one of the following settings on the Global tab:
    • The main dimension
    • The secondary dimension
    • The number of periods
  • Unwanted data can remain in the financial database if you:
    • Changed or deleted a mapping and then calculated views.
    • Changed an event type from a separate view to the Salary view and then calculated views.
    • Selected a secondary dimension during the upgrade process and chose a member that was not part of the mapping and then calculated views.
