Defining hour types

  1. Click the Hour Types tab.
  2. In each Hour Type field, specify a description. You can specify up to sixty characters. Detail Budgeting provides these sample types:
    • Salary
    • Daily
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
    • Yearly
The hour types and any new hour types you specify appear in the Hour Type list on the Employee Types tab.
  3. In the Hour Help field for each hour type, specify the prompt you want budget holders to see when they enter the number of hours an employee has worked. The prompt should tell them for what range of time (weekly, monthly, etc.) the hours should to be specified. The prompt is displayed in the status line (located at the bottom of the Employee Detail window) when budget holders click in the Hours field.
  4. In the Units Per Year field for each hour type, specify the total number of days, months, or weeks (according to the hour type) that occur during each fiscal year. For example, for a monthly hour type, specify 12. For a salary or yearly hour type, you must specify either 0 or 1. There must be at least one hour type with a value greater than 1 for the Hourly employee type.
