Event types

Events are actions that are used to plan employee expenses that are beyond salaries. The Event Types tab allows you to define events that are needed by your company to plan additional employee expenses (commonly known as fringe benefits).

These are 11 standard events provided with Detail Budgeting:
  • Salary
  • Transfer Out
  • Bonus
  • Commission
  • Increase Amt
  • Increase Pct
  • New Pct
  • New Type
  • New Title
  • New Hours
  • Overtime

These sample events are fully configurable to better fit your company's requirements. For example, Bonus could be set up as a fixed amount of $5,000 and it can be applied without regard to salary. Alternatively, Bonus could set up as a percentage increase of salary or as a rate/factor of salary. Additionally, new events can be created, such as car allowance, taxes, phone allowance, and others.

You can also create global events to manage events that are not calendar driven, have known percentages or amounts, and can have a salary ceiling limit, for instance FICA.

Salary is always the first required event.
