Posting scenario
To show how the effective life, focus range, and the periods specified in the consolidation request determine the periods in which a journal posts, consider this scenario (the journal and schedule periodicities are both monthly).
Factors | Starting Date | Ending Date |
---|---|---|
Effective Life | January | December |
Focus Range | June | August |
Consolidation Request | July | September |
The journal will only post to the periods the three factors (effective life, focus range, and the request) have in common. That is, the latest start date determines the first period for which a journal will post, and the earliest end date determines the last period for which a journal will post.
For example, the consolidation begins in July. This is the latest starting date. The focus range ends in August. This is the earliest ending date. The overlapping periods are July and August.
