Process overview

This is an overview of the ownership process.

  • Enable the Ownership process when creating or upgrading your database.
  • Define each consolidation method using a range of effective control percents for one or more versions.
  • Specify direct ownership percentages for each investor-subsidiary relationship using the Direct Investor Relationships page.
  • Initially assign the control holding unit type to the top holding company from the Ownership Properties page.
  • Calculate the ownership percentages (effective control, effective ownership, and consolidation percent) and default consolidation methods for each unit with an investor relationship. You can run the calculation from either data entry ownership page (using the Calculate button) or from the Calculate Ownership Percentages page. A unit can have different calculated percents for each consolidation unit in the hierarchy.

You can also calculate ownership percentages using a script.

After the initial setup, you must recalculate every time you change the direct ownership percents on the Direct Investor Relationships page.

You can then view the calculated values from the Ownership Properties page and optionally assign an override consolidation method to any holding company or legal company.
