Allocation lines

Allocation lines allocate amounts to other units based on the specified formula. Allocation lines are only calculated when requested during consolidation, and then only for consolidated currencies.

Allocations follow the same rules as general formulas, except that you must specify that allocations are to be calculated when you run consolidations. The number of consolidation passes required depends on the allocation formulas you create.

This section presents some examples of allocations and complex formulas whose calculations are performed by the consolidation engine. Allocation methods such as percent of value, evenly, and rate based are supported. The following examples show what formulas for each of these methods might look like as well as other examples of common formulas. The syntax presented here is correct for the Formula Builder. To add allocations in the bulk import structure file, the formulas should be preceded by Allocation and end with EndIf.

It is important to remember that your formulas may be referencing different schedules and units that report in different currencies. This means that you must consolidate all schedules whose lines are referenced in the formula and to the currencies for which you want a report. The allocation box should be checked, and the number of passes increased, if necessary.
