Importing views
You can import views and styles from one views database to another views database.
To import views:
- On the File tab, select Import.
- Select the database that contains the items you want to copy to another database.
-
Select the type of item.
Option Description View This option copies the view and all components of the view definition. The components include the data source, styles, allowed members and so on. When a view is selected for import, it is copied and placed in the same view group that it exists in the source views database. If the view group does not exist, it is created. Other This option copies individual styles. You can expand the list to select individual items. If there are no items within a group, it is not included in the list. The data source is part of the view definition but it cannot be imported as a separate component. - From the Change Model To list, select the data source connection. Data sources are connections to a specific model and there will only be one connection defined across all servers. This can be used to change a view from a development CPM model to a production CPM model during import.

From the
Conflict Resolution list,
select the action to take if the view or style already exists.
Option Description Overwrite This option always overwrites the current definition in the views database. This applies to all items of a view definition or each individual item being transferred. Rename If the item already exists, this option automatically renames a view by appending a -1 to the name. If the component being transferred already exists, it is automatically renamed by appending a -1 to the name (or use the same convention that is being used for Duplicate). If it is found that the name also already preexists, the extension would be doubled. Use Existing If the item being transferred already exists, this option will not overwrite it. Basically, the item is skipped. - Click .
